At this point in life, when we have pulled up stakes for a different state close to a dozen times and are staring at the back half of life pretty intently with no escape, the idea of home takes on a richer definition. Home is wherever we are.
“The name Aztecs was actually coined by explorer and geographer Alexander von Humboldt during his extensive travels through Latin America, observing the cultures of its indigenous people. He took this name partly from the word Aztlán, which according to the Mexicas (Meh-SHEE-kuh) was their northern homeland.” Some believe that to be what is now southwest US. Living nomadically is an art in itself. There is what is left behind and what comes with. Answering the questions what to bring and why bring it along is imperative because it literally has to be carried by someone. Isn’t that an interesting way to look at life??
Most of life was centered in out of doors because there was so much to be done just to be self sustaining. Everyone participated as they were able, even children to that end. The indoors was simple, possessions were few but functional and life under the sun was the only way to live. Simpler times? Yes. Purpose driven? Yes! Darn hard? YES! Could I live like that? Uh, doubtful! Could you???
May your home be filled with the wonder of this season! Merry Christmas
